News Room: Week Beginning 21 January 2013
I think ‘ordinary’ people can be courageous in extra-ordinary circumstances. Don’t assume you will ever do or not do anything until you are in that circumstance.
Victoria Soto was a teacher who lost her life at the terrible Connecticut shooting. She put her students in a closet & told them to be quiet. She told the shooter that they were elsewhere when he came into her room & shot her. Imagine how much more beauty, courage and extraordinary behaviour she would have bought to the world….

I have just discovered the amazing Sebastian Terry & 100 Things: www.100things.com.au CALLOUT for a Community Opportunity.
“COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITY: We all have the ability to help someone else but the trouble is finding the avenue to do so. The development of “People Helping People” on the 100 Things site is all about just this; connecting people who NEED help with people who CAN help. It could be anything! As part of a random connection I recently made (this tends to happen a lot!), I’m asking anyone in SYDNEY who knows of a community building in need of a face-lift (inside and out) to please send me your story- I might be able to help! If you know of an area/building/venue that serves a communal (and heartfelt) purpose (school/community centre, retirement home, animal care centre etc) and has quite possibly gone through a rough trot and just needs a helping hand, i’d love to chat to you. All replies will be answered and although i’m in no position to guarantee the outcome, I’ll add everyone who shares their story to the People Helping People database for future projects! This could be huge 🙂 Seb #PeopleHelpingPeople”

This story is so sad. Organ donours save sooo many lives, My Dad missed out… my brother would be blind were it not for a gorgeous soul donating their corneas. Recycle beyond your last breath….
From the Daily Mail: “Father-of-three takes to begging with roadside sign in desperate bid to find donor with a kidney which will save his life – http://bit.ly/10q7vh2“

There are so many people who are posting “Please ‘Like’ this so my Mum will buy me a fish” etc It was cute in the beginning, but now there are people posting their disgust and frustration under pictures.
Now this is the type of ‘Asking for Likes’ I think is appropriate. Gorgeous little man ♥

Ever wonder how much bandwidth listening to radio online uses?
“Assuming the average speed of a radio stream is 64Kbps. That’s bits per second, so it’s about 8KB/s or 8 KiloBytes per second.
A week is 60 * 60 * 24 * 7 = 604800 seconds
A month is ${WEEK} * 13 / 4 = 1965600 seconds
8KB * 1965600 = 16102195200 Bytes or about 15GB
So, listening to a 64Kbps radio stream 24 hours a day uses about 15GB per month. ” via http://hintsforums.macworld.com/showthread.php?t=142015
